Salam Alaykum,

The scholar in question (Tahir ul Qadri) is quite controversial for whatever reasons, but it is good nonetheless that from among those with knowledge there are those who will speak out against the wrong understanding of the religion.

However, I think there needs to be a more concerted effort by all, scholars and laymen alike, to show that certain ideologies that are ufortunately deeply-rooted in the non-Muslim world and which are force-fed to the Muslim countries (in terms of how the non-Muslim world judges its political, economic and social progress) also need to be totally shunned by the Muslims if we are to have any chance at success in the near future.

Assalamu^alaykum

Surely re-releasing the 'fatwa' at westminister will put a dent in the sheikhs credibility?

The bottom line is this no matter what some scholars say in relation to this subject, it all goes back down to the topic of Jihad. The reality of the matter is that any form of Jihad whether its valid or invalid, is and will always be considered as 'terrorism' and the mujahideen whether they be from the salafis or the sufis fighting the rights or the wrongs will always be considered as terrorists.

In the words of ex prime minister tony blair, in reference to the taliban and the 'shariah', it will always be referred to as a 'barbaric law'.

So lets put all this aside and ask our scholars to discuss the 'correct' form of Jihad and see if that appeases the suits at west minisiter and capital hill.

Found this following article and comment online, thought it was an interesting read on the issue.
