as-salamu `alaikum,
I mentioned I've been reading Sh. Sa'id Foudah's Naqd al-Tadmuriyya which has been translated into English. I am enjoying reading it.... From the book:
THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE TADMURĪYYA ESSAY
According to what has been reported, Ibn Taymiyya wrote this essay as a response to a question directed to him by some people from Tadmur. Because this essay was a response to them, it was named after the land of Tadmur, which was a province of Homs in Syria. In this essay, he speaks about Divine unity [ tawḥīd ], the Divine Attributes, Sacred Law, and Divine decree. In the beginning of his essay, he claimed that the reasons that compelled him to write it were the following: One: The importance of these fundamentals, and this is correct. Two: The large number of people who speak about it with falsehood, and this is the subject of dispute. The reality of these religious fundamentals are too obvious to be hidden from the majority of people, rather, our scholars have already clarified, examined and explained the details of these issues. On the other hand, since Ibn Taymiyya opposed them in these fundamentals, he described them as only speaking about these areas of research with falsehood. We shall refute this claim of his, offer a rebuttal to his words, and demolish his proofs with the most lucid and concise of words.
