Assalamu alaykum,
I'm attaching this pdf book; it goes into detail outlining Ibn Taymiyya's aqida and points out his mistakes.

Was wondering if anyone has read this book or is interested in translating? : )

al-Kashif would be better than the one on Hawadith la awwala laha, as it includes that and more.

Another book I'd like to see translated is:

- Mawqif Al-Aql wal-Ilm wal-Alem min Rabbil-Alameen wa Ibadihi al-Mursaleen (Position of Reason and Knowledge and World in Relation to the Lord of the Worlds and His Messengers) by Mustafa Sabri, 3rd edition, Dar Ihya at-Turath al-Arabi, Beirut, 1992.

He was the last Shaykh al-Islam of the Ottoman state.

JazzakumAllah khayran for your suggestions. I will try to keep a list of all the suggestions made here insha'Allah, and consider them for the 2009 brochure. Shawahid al-Haqq is already on the 2008 Future Projects list and insha'Allah will be translated in due time. I particularly like the idea to translate Shaykh al-Islam Mustafa Sabri's book and the Maqalat of Imam Zahid, of which his article Al-La Madhabbiyya Qantaratu al-Ladiniyya I intend to add to new editions of Shaykh Buti's Al-La Madhhabiyya. I am also considering the following books for next year's lists:

* Imam Sirajuddin's Al-Salat `ala al-Nabi sallallahu `alayhi wa-alihi wa-sallam.
* Imam Sirajuddin's Tafsir Surat al-Fatiha.
* Shaykh Foudah's Tad`im al-Mantiq.
* Shaykh Foudah's Al-Kashif al-Saghir.
* Shaykh Mansur Muhammad `Uwais' Ibn Taymiyya Laysa Salafiyyan.
* Shaykh `Abdullah al-Ghali's Durar al-Alfaz al-`Awali.
* Shaykh `Abd al-Hafiz Makki's Mawqif A;immat al-Harakat al-Salafiyya min al-Tasawwuf wal-Sufiyya.

These are however all more or less contemporary works, so especially suggestions for classical works would be greatly appreciated. In terms of polemics, I am especially interested in contemporary refutations and researches dealing with different forms of modernism. I am also looking for classical works in refutation of philosophical and theological sects, and contemporary books in refutation of the remainder of their philosophies today. Shaykh Sa`id Foudah has written a refutation of Nasr Abu Zaid, but it hasn't been published in Arabic yet. Aside of polemics, suggestions for books on Usul al-Fiqh and Mantiq would be greatly appreciated. And finally, orientalism. If I can find one good book on that I will try to arrange for its translation and publication next year insha'Allah.

Wassalam

Once again, the intentions are good, but why expend so much energy on such specialised works? If someone is so keen to know about the hawadith issue they can learn arabic and consult the work. Most ulema let alone awamm are aware of this issue or could probably understand it.

About Shawahid al-Haqq, why translate it when the more detailed and convincing Raf al-Minarah is available, or better still, why not translate the Ajwibah al-Ghaliyah of Habib Zayn, and then add detailed footnotes from these different works?

I do some work with Turath publishing, and they slowly are changing around their approach from extremely specialised works, to books which will actually by used and benefitted from, as opposed to sitting on a bookshelf.

For example they are working on:

Mukhtasar al-Shamail al-Tirmidhi by al-Suyuti: A greatly shortened version of the Shamail along with Suyuti adding brief comments, very accessible for many of us who dont have time to read all of the 400 or so hadith of the original.
A selection of pocket sized arbaeen hadith collections (eg. al-Suyuti, al-Fadani, al-Ajluni)
Bidayat al-Sul: By Izz al-Din Abd al-Salam, a very brief work
Virtues of Salawat ala al-Nabi (S) along with various salawat to be recited By Sh. Abdullah al-Ghumari, published pocket sized inshallah
The Advice (al-Wasiyyah) of Ibn Qudama al-Maqdisi: A brilliant short work similar in style to al-Ghazali's Ayyuhal Walad, succint but detailed at the same time
Arbaeen of Shah Waliullah al-Dehlawi with brief commentary

Their previous projects are still being worked on, but there is a definite shift in focus towards works which will/can be read and may be used on a regular basis, ie. in durus/circles etc

Al-Ajwibah al-Ghaliyah is probably the closest text I have seen yet which is a sunni equivalent 'matn' to Kitab al-Tawhid. It seems Habib Zayn dictated it to someone, it would be useful if it was published along with a detailed commentary/annotated notes, along with a title which would point out its relevance, something like 'Issues on Tawhid'.

If the commentary is produced properly it should be able to be used a textbook on courses and circles, as the works starts off with a basic run through of a muslims belief, prophethood etc, before moving on to more controversial issues.

Forgive me as I havent read all of Rafa' al-Minara, but I believe it deals with Tawassul and Ziyara and not the issue of Istighatha as such. If that is the case, then perhaps the Shawahid is a unique book with its place. I agree with you about the book on Ibn Taymiyya and Hawadith la awalla laha.
